When I enlisted in the Air National Guard it was never in my mind that I would be traveling all over world and becoming involved in major conflicts for my country. I thought of the National Guard as defending the USA from attacks and preforming duties in possibly other states or providing disaster assistance.Now some 26 years later I have seen the role of the National Guard change into an important co-equal partner with my active duty brothers and sisters. It makes me really proud to say that when we were tasked to perform those duties, we did them with professionalism and pride that made the active duty counter parts I worked with take notice. We have something that the active duty for the most part cannot easily duplicate, years and years of experience.

This is not a slam of the active duty forces, it is just the fact that many of the people of the Air and Army National Guard have had much more time to perfect those skills. I have seen with my own eyes the quality, speed and efficiency that the National Guard displays when asked to do it's duty. It is awesome to be quite honest, and as a former active duty person I know both sides. The people of the USA should know, and I think they do already that the National Guard has represented our country well, in spite of the many rotations and long separations from our civilian jobs and our families and communities. I see them volunteering time and time again to go back as well.

So it is not the mission I signed up for, I still believe it is worth it to ensure the freedom that we help protect, even for people who may have a different opinion of our mission, is what we do, and it is our civic duty. The support that I have seen from people in the US while I was deployed is nothing short of truly amazing. So I say that if you choose service in the National Guard today, remember that the role may change again for you as it did for me, and be prepared to be a part of a team that will rise to that challenge as well. It would be wise to remember that like many other occupations it is always changing and evolving as well.

The National Guard still does some of it's traditional roles, including an expanded mission to protect our borders and it will be successful there as well, that is certain. So take some time and learn more about National Guard units in your community and understand they do much more than two weeks a year and one weekend a month, but they are doing it for you, as they always have.

I love these headphones. In fact, I'm online today buying a replacement set for the one I've been using for over a year (battery leaked inside base and killed the contact!). You can easily switch between FM stations, and from radio to your computer/MP3/TV by using a button on the headset. Volume is controlled on the headset. Both the headset and base run on batteries, so you don't need to have yet another electrical outlet available to use these. I am totally amazed at how long the base will transmit on a pair of AAA batteries. In fact, I never had to replace the batteries in my unit, which is why I didn't realize one of the batteries was leaking. I must admit, that I don't use the headphones more than about an hour each day, but still, the battery life is great. I really love that I can walk into my kitchen -- 2 rooms away from the base -- and still have good reception, so I can listen to music from my computer while doing dishes, making dinner, etc. You can't beat this unit for the price. Note: I don't use it for TV; just use connected to my computer for playing music, or listening to FM radio.

Cataract is a condition in which the eye lens becomes progressively opaque. Treatment:

Surgery is considered the most effective treatment for the removal of cataract. One type of cataract surgery is the Extra-capsular surgery which removes the affected lens only, leaving the majority of the lens capsule intact. The other surgical removal of the cataract is Intra-capsular surgery which removes the entire lens of the eye. This surgery replaces the cataractous lens with a permanent plastic lens.

Due to its low cost and also its affinity, polymethylmethacrylate PMMA is widely used to replace the cataract lens. A softer and more expensive one is the silicon acrylate which can be folded and inserted into the eye through a smaller incision. It's specially recommended for those with a history of uvetus or at risky stage of retinal detachment. There is also the latest approved multifocal intraocular lens implants which enables most post operative cataract patients the advantage of glass free vision and they are costly too, can rise up to $1500 per eye. But then one's eye is very precious, it's worth the amount spent indeed.

For cataract operations, one needs only a day. In fact the patient can leave for home the same day itself. Although yes, risk cases arise only after the surgery's done. Cases such as thickening and clouding of the lens capsule are common, though it can be quickly corrected using a laser. Well, retinal detachment is another complication of cataract surgery with those patients of extreme myopia.

Prevention:

Protecting the eye from ultra violet rays by using good sunglasses, which will to an extent reduce the development of cataracts.

Regular intake of antioxidants like vitamin C and E.

Stalin's also have a stable ability to reduce lipids; especially its oxidative quality is useful in the development of nuclear cataracts, which is an age related cataract.

I have a Samsung Blackjack (first generation) which is a great phone. I wanted to be able to listen to music using the phone's SD card and Media Player but I didn't want to spend an extra $100+ on a separate MP3 player. I purchased this item for $.01 + $4.98 shipping = $4.99 total. For that price I was able to listen to hours of music on my phone while snowboarding. It's also handy to be able to watch movies on the phone without bothering others with the phones speakers. Now, the criticism. I read several reviews that claim there is a clicking noise that your headphones make at the start of each song when using this product. That is true. I have purchased 2 of these and it does make that sound each and every time. Not a big deal though. It isn't that loud and it only lasts a fraction of a second. It's also not the toughest thing in the world. Mine broke easily after using it 4 times. Granted I was snowboarding and must have landed on it the wrong way. I fixed this with the next one I purchased by wrapping the male end of the adapter in black electrical tape which beefed it up a little and kept the casing from coming off. I have since purchased an actual MP3 player but still love this little adapter. For $4.99, how can you complain.
