These headphones are pretty good when they work, both quality and range. But unless you use them daily, you absolutely cannot rely on the rechargeable battery. If you use the headphones at exactly the moment a recharge is complete, it will work fine. In fact, they will almost always be dead. Not a very good design. I purchased this item a little of a year ago and its horrible. I bought these for one purpose only and that is to use them wireless for TV/Gaming. The sound quality is OK, cheaply made, the writing on the headphones wore off very quickly, it turns off randomly and you have to press [Reset] then [Scan] to get the sound back. The batteries seem to die quickly (4x AAA) at a time, should have a wall outlet. When the volume gets loud it sounds very choppy and distorted. I paid roughly $13 shipped for these

Not only over priced, they are not compatible with most audio equipment in the sense that they have their own volume control which only works when the input volume is cranked to a disturbing level. These are represented as personal listening devices but when everyone within a 900 foot radius of the input device must tolerate the sound, I'd call these a complete FLOP. I owned an older model of this product and it sounded great. I broke the mic, I decided to get the newer one. The first one had a bad ear piece. Amazon sent a replacement right away. The replacement works great when it's positioned properly. If not, the speakers click on and off. Other than that, it sounds great. And I can't break the mic since it's in the headphone itself.
Customer Review: 5.1 sound isn't cheap
I have mixed feelings about this thing. On one hand, it does deliver 5.1 sound, more or less, and it's hard to get an analog unit that will do this. Of course that means lots of plugs, and well, your guess is as good as mine as to what goes where. Poor documentation on the plug colors/roles and poor front/rear sound separation have me constantly guessing whether I have it hooked up right. Also the left channel speaker has always been weak on my unit. The red light that never goes away is also a small annoyance. I haven't used the microphone much, but from a little testing it seems pretty chintzy, if that's important to you, go with a different solution. It is unpredictable what volume level the headphones will initialize at. I recommend starting whatever application you are using them with *before* putting them on your head, to avoid possible hearing damage. Note that this headset needs additional power, either via USB plug or included USB/AC converter. If you want to use it USB, the wire is very short, and you could be limited on where you can plug it.

Have owned these for a year now. I would not recommend them. I have these at home for my PC. Everything seems to add interference. Its tollable but thats not the best thing to say about headphones. Some days just turning your head a few inchs when I am a feet from the unit is enough for them to loose signal. I don't bother to charge them on the stand, I rotate batteries between a charger and the headphones. At work I have had 2 pairs of sennheiser headphones. In 2004 I bought the RS-40. They worked great but I broke them by standing on them. Now I have refurbished RS130s that work excellently, and they run in rechargable AAA's! Neither Senn's really have the "surround sound" but I can't tell the difference to be honest. The surround sound on these is not that decernable. I think reception quality trumps surround dound in the end. I would get the RS130s

I thought I bought a great purchase with these! No. JUNK-pure 'n simple! I think they put them on sale to get rid of them! You're watching a great surround sound movie or whatever and then,,,,,,PSSSSSSSSSST PHHHHHHHHHHHHT! Static and like a Motorola Razor-it drops your sound on you while you're listening! You have to move your head this way and that-get up and change the settings 2 or 3 or more times to get it right, stand on your head, turn around 3 or 4 times, and then turn around 3 or 4 more times the other way to get your sound back, oh, yes I forgot, say Hale Mary, Grace about 5 or 15 times to get the sound to come back! I'm thinking about taking these as a trap-shooting target with me sometime! Let's see, other nouns-CRAP, oh, one more thing, I believe it would make a great boat anchor!

Bought these for playing video games on an HDTV, and to replace a pair of wired headphones that make me feel like my head is in a vise.

First impression, these headphones are very comfortable. Big, cushioned ear cups fit perfectly, and the headband has plenty of support to put the weight of the headphones where it should be: across the top of your head, rather than resting on your ears. Sound quality is excellent. Pay attention to the position of the IR base, or you'll start hearing static as you move out of range, but once you've got the base positioned, sound quality is excellent.

The only feature I don't understand is the vibration switch. It's supposed to "enhance the bass notes in games and music". Okay, sure. If you want your head vibrating on bass notes, that's your call. Personally, it's a feature I have very little use for.
